Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets in Lahore on Tuesday to reach the final of the ODI tri-series, completing the victory after bowling Pakistan out for just 110. Sri Lanka chased down the target in only 18.1 overs, finishing at 114 for two, with Kamindu Mendis anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 62 off 60 balls.
Left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka had led the bowling attack with a career-best five for 34, as Pakistan collapsed from 61 for four to 110 all out in 25.3 overs, with Babar Azam top-scoring with 29. Pavan Rathnayake remained not out on 23 as Sri Lanka closed out a comfortable win.
The result knocked England out of the tournament, after Harry Brook’s side had lost their first three matches and needed Pakistan to beat Sri Lanka to stay alive. Sri Lanka will now meet Pakistan again in the final on Saturday, 31 October, while England’s remaining match against Sri Lanka on Thursday is a dead rubber.
