UPDATE — Sri Lanka have taken control of the ODI tri-series final against Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, reaching 231 for 2 after 38.5 overs, with Kamindu Mendis unbeaten on 121 off 120 balls. Pavan Rathnayake was with him on 56 off 52 balls, the pair having added 122 runs together.
Pakistan had won the toss and chosen to field first, hoping for early wickets and evening dew later. Instead, after Avishka Fernando made 38 and captain Kusal Mendis fell for 8 to Salman Ali Agha, Kamindu Mendis and Rathnayake rebuilt and then accelerated, lifting Sri Lanka past 230 with more than 11 overs still to bat at the last check.
Pakistan, chasing their first home ODI tri-series title, now face a big chase under lights if Sri Lanka finish strongly — the same Sri Lanka side that beat them by eight wickets in the teams’ earlier meeting this tournament. Shadab Khan missed the final through illness, with Faheem Ashraf in his place.
