UPDATE — Duckett’s 167 powers England to 55-run win over Sri Lanka in Lahore

England finished their tri-series campaign with a 55-run consolation win over Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Thursday night, completing the match whose first innings was reported yesterday. Ben Duckett struck a career-best 167 off 132 balls, with 24 fours, as England posted 386 for 5, the highest-ever ODI total at the ground, beating Pakistan’s 375 for 3 against Zimbabwe in 2015. Tom Banton added 74 and captain Harry Brook 44 in support of Duckett, while Sri Lanka, chasing 387, were bowled out for 331 in 45.1 overs despite Pavan Rathnayake’s 118 off 77 balls and Kusal Mendis’s 89. Liam Dawson took 4 for 49, including the key wicket of Rathnayake, as Sri Lanka lost their last five wickets for 16 runs. It was England’s first ODI win in Pakistan since December 2005. The result does not change the final: Pakistan and Sri Lanka meet in the tri-series decider at the same ground on Saturday, 31 October. But Sri Lanka’s bowlers will have wanted a lighter workload before the final, and England leave with a win to take into their tour of Australia. Sources: APP (UrduPoint), AP (CricToday).
