Countries at the UN biodiversity talks in Yerevan have agreed a new ‘Yerevan Pathway’ to accelerate implementation of the global biodiversity framework and speed up nature action by 2030.
The agreement, reached at COP17, sets out measures to strengthen national plans, improve monitoring and unlock finance for conservation. Delegates said the pathway would help close the gap between pledges and delivery.
Pakistan’s delegation welcomed the outcome, saying it supported calls for fair climate finance and assistance for vulnerable countries. Environmental groups said the test would be whether countries turned the commitments into funded action on the ground.
