Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first in the ODI tri-series final against Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday, with the match starting at 1:00pm Pakistan time. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said the decision was partly influenced by the dew expected later in the evening, which could hamper the team fielding second. Both teams made one change from their previous matches. Shadab Khan, whose unbeaten century had won Pakistan’s match against England, is out through illness, with seam-bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf replacing him. Sri Lanka strengthened their spin attack by bringing in Maheesh Theekshana for seamer Eshan Malinga, leaving them with two frontline spinners and two seamers plus part-time overs from the top order. Pakistan reached the final with three wins from four matches, including two against England and one against Sri Lanka, and are chasing their first ODI tri-series title on home soil. Sri Lanka, however, won the teams’ earlier meeting in this tournament, so the hosts start as favourites with a recent defeat still to answer. Sources: ESPNcricinfo, ProPakistani, Arab News.
