SBP reserves rise 33 million dollars to 21.52 billion dollars

Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan rose by 33 million dollars to 21.52 billion dollars during the week ended 23 October 2026, according to central bank data released on Thursday. The small rise continues a period of relative stability in the reserves position. The rupee also held steady, gaining one paisa against the US dollar to close at 276.76, compared with 276.77 a day earlier. Gold prices in Pakistan were unchanged on Thursday at 425,636 rupees per tola, with 10 grams at 364,914 rupees, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association, while silver slipped 86 rupees per tola to 5,768 rupees. International spot gold fell 1.1 percent to 4,024.10 dollars an ounce as stronger-than-expected US inflation data reinforced expectations of a possible Federal Reserve rate rise later this year. For households, steady reserves and a steady rupee matter because they help keep import costs, from fuel to machinery, predictable. A 33-million-dollar weekly rise is modest, but direction matters more than size in a reserves report. Sources: Express Tribune, The AZB (State Bank of Pakistan data).
