Taiwanese airlines get overflight permission till March 2027

Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority has issued overflight schedules for two Taiwanese airlines, China Airlines and Eva Airways, covering 28 October 2026 to 27 March 2027, even though Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif had claimed the airlines were barred from flying over Pakistan. Documents seen by Dawn confirm the schedules, and a diplomatic source said the permissions had been extended.

A Civil Aviation Authority official said no notice to airmen announcing a ban had been issued, and the matter was referred to the Foreign Office on whether any policy decision had been taken. Bloomberg later updated its report to reflect the granting of overflight permission, although flight-tracking data showed the two carriers had not flown over Pakistan since 25 October and had rerouted some Asia-Europe flights over Russia.

Pakistan does not recognise Taiwan as a separate state, but Taiwanese airlines have long used Pakistani airspace on routes to Europe. The episode shows how quickly an aviation claim can be checked against the official schedule.
