Karachi is expected to welcome winter only in mid-December this year, with hot and dry weather likely to persist across the city in the coming weeks, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Daytime temperatures in Karachi could remain between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius until the end of October, and are expected to stay around 37 degrees until 6 November. After 6 November, daytime temperatures are likely to ease to around 35 degrees, and the department forecasts above-normal temperatures through November, with daytime readings of 33 to 35 degrees and night-time temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees. By comparison, Karachi’s normal November daytime average is 32.6 degrees and its average night-time temperature is 17.7 degrees. For city residents, the forecast means no quick relief from the heat: light clothing, shade and water remain the daily routine, while genuinely cooler nights are still weeks away. The gradual cooling through November should still bring more comfortable evenings, even if true winter waits until December. Sources: Business Recorder, Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast.
